Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs to be banned in Germany

Nasty surprise for children as Germans plan Kinder egg ban Protests grow as chocolate treats with toys inside are labelled health hazard (link via guardian.co.uk) I used to bring some Kinder eggs with me to give to relatives on trips home to Minnesota because I had heard they weren't available in the USA. Is that still true? I can understand that they do present a choking hazard if given to very young children but older children (and some adults!) love collecting the Kinder Surprise toys that come with the chocolate.
