Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: review
Last weekend, my husband and I went to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. We both liked it. We thought it was entertaining but it's not a movie I would rave about. It was just good escapist fun.
The storyline is very over the top - but that's the formula for these movies. I thought Harrison Ford still looks good and I think he is still a believable action hero even though he's 65. And Karen Allen looks good too (mind you, she's nine years younger than him), reprising the role of Marion Ravenwood - and the two lead actors still have a very good rapport with each other. Cate Blanchett was good as the villain but I think any actress could have played her part, Colonel-Dr. Irina Spalko (you gotta love the name!). The young actor, Shia LaBeouf, playing the character, Mutt, was very good too, considering he was playing opposite Harrison Ford.
If you enjoyed the previous Indiana Jones film series, you will probably enjoy this one too. I don't think it's as good as the previous ones though. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I would give it 7/10.
And here's another view: our 16 yr old saw it last Friday with some friends. He was very disappointed. He kept saying that he thought it would be a lot different to what it was. He didn't think it was as good as the other Indiana Jones' movies and he didn't like the ending.

judging from the "hat hint" at the end of the most recent Indiana Jones, it seems pretty obvious that Shia LaBeouf will be the next Indy
ReplyDeleteHi Patrick, yes, I agree with you. That was a definite hint. I'm sure that's the idea behind his character. I think the young actor (Shia LaBeouf) will do quite well. He has a certain kind of laid back charm, which is very similar to Harrison Ford.
