British MPs vote for 42 day detention: Brown wins
Gordon Brown bought himself time tonight by securing a narrow victory on extending to 42 days the period police can hold terrorist suspects without charge.

I'm depressed and disgusted. At least it has to go to the House of Lords now so it's not a done deal yet.

Brown wins? Not really. He squeaked past with 9 votes. Sure a wins a win , I guess - but the Lords might yet put another nail in Brown's coffin.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - he just barely won but like you say a wins, a win. I've been reading that the Lords are expected to reject the bill. Let's hope so.
